To provide world class youth soccer programs that enrich children's lives

To develop and deliver quality youth soccer programs which promote a fun, family environment based on the AYSO philosophies.

There are five tenets or philosophies on which AYSO is based. These are:

• Balanced Teams
• Everyone Plays
• Open Registration
• Positive Coaching
• Good Sportsmanship
• Player Development

Originally, the organization was founded in 1964 on the first three tenets due to exclusive, ethnic-based soccer clubs found in the Los Angeles area. The latter two were added during the first ten years to round out the focus on child development through sport. The sixth Tenet, Player Development, was passed on 24 May 2009 at the NAGM in Dallas, Texas.
